Spicers’ investors enjoy high returns

5 November 2007

The September 2007 quarterly Mercer Investment Consulting survey shows investors who have put money into managed funds with Spicers Portfolio Management have enjoyed returns which are ranked among the highest across the industry.

Over the 12 months to the end of September, clients of the financial advice company have earned 14.9% from the Arcus Investment Management UT02 Medium Risk Balanced Fund and have received average annual returns of 16.3% over the past five years.

Spicers Chief Executive Officer Gordon Noble-Campbell says this strong performance is great news for people who invest with Spicers.

“Our clients are enjoying consistently high returns delivered by the proven expertise of our fund manager Arcus Investment Management.”

“It demonstrates Arcus’ long term capability to add real value and growth to our clients’ investment portfolios.”

Mr Noble-Campbell says Arcus, a member of the global AXA group, manages more than NZ$5.0 billion, including over NZ$1.5billion on behalf of Spicers’ clients.

“Arcus provides our clients with access to worldwide investment opportunities through a range of specialist securities managers, each of whom have consistently delivered  superior returns on a risk-return basis in their respective areas”.

“Client funds are invested across a wide range of domestic and international assets, providing both diversification and access to a range of investment opportunities”.

He says one of the benefits of managed funds is they can be easily converted to cash when needed.

The Mercer Investment Manager Survey is a quarterly survey that tracks over 75 wholesale investment products across seven asset classes including New Zealand and overseas shares, property and fixed interest.

All rates of return are before tax and management fees in New Zealand dollars.
